You know how when you get stressed out your immune system says "Hey, I know you're like REALLY stressed, but we're going to go on a little vacation for about a week, have fun! Kay?" Yeah, enter the Plague of 2011, it all started with an achy throat early Tuesday morning and from there it was all downhill... awesome. So here I am being told "You really should take it easy" but yet I got up this morning, put a little make up on to cover up the huge planet on my chin (as if I didn't have enough to deal with Mother Nature? Really?!?) and went to the grocery store, because I was out of cat food, Almond Milk, Special K and carrots (odd, I know) oh and I needed Kleenex w/ lotion and Vicks. Which in retrospect was probably a bad idea to go to the store when I had my mom calling me asking me "Are you sure I can't go for you?" the day before....
So... Unlike most of my friends, I did not go out and party on NYE.... Mal and I went to dinner, then a movie... then we went back to his house, and fell asleep around 11... yeah, didn't even make it to the New Year... I guess that's what happens when you get old.... You fall asleep before midnight, and realize you're too old to shop at American Eagle, Express and Forever 21 (although the top I'm wearing now is totally from Forver 21).....
And, maybe it's just me, but does anyone else find the kids (hell, they're my age-ish) from the Jersey Shore to be annoying as HELL?? Thanks MTV for proving all you have to do to be famous is get knocked up at 16 or be an over-tan under-educated guido! I stopped watching MTV after the Real World Vegas... Wow I am getting old....

AUSTRAILIA!!
So I graduate from Aveda in like 6-7 months... and seeing as how I've ALWAYS wanted to go to Australia... Mal has decided as a grad present he and I are going to go! Granted it's only for like 2 weeks, but 2 WEEKS in Australia... Though, it's still like 7 months away I'm a little nervous... because we'll be stopping in Brisbane (where he's from) so I can meet his family (YIKES!), he's met my family... my mom likes him (who wouldn't? he's smart, funny, has awesome hair and he sounds like Hugh Jackman!)
Woo Hoo!! I hope I see a kangaroo!

Plans and tips for dating...
I never thought at pushing 28 I'd be helping my baby sister plan her wedding... But my mom told me "the best way to make God laugh is tell him your plan." And, maybe a decade ago I would have said "In 10 years I see myself married to my high school sweetheart, we'll have 3 kids with one on the way and I'll be a successful business woman and wonderful mother." Yeah, I didn't anticipate a broken heart for no reason, an unforeseen illness that plagued me for 2 years, 3 deaths, nearly losing both my parents, and lots of growing up. But now a decade later, I'm stronger, smarter (with somethings), I know what I want and I no longer wear my heart on my sleeve....and I now have a boyfriend that supports every aspect of my life including my need for personal space 4 nights out of the week and the fact that despite my attempts to remain calm in every situation... I do lose my temper... like when the cat decided it would be cute to hack up the largest hair ball inside my shoe.... Yeah... stuff like that. He finds my sense of humor endearing and the fact when I do get flustered instead of crying I tend to just smile and laugh... and for that I love him. For the first time in nearly a decade I feel happy with where I am in my life and with who I am...
But before meeting him (his name is Malcolm by the way, and he's Australian, did we except me to date another American?) I went on A LOT of dates, some good... some...notsomuch... So, to those guys I want to give you a little tip or a few about taking a girl out on a date or suggesting a decent meeting place...
1. Dinner at a restaurant like Chili's or Zio's is a great option.... Places like Wendy's, Sonic, McDonald's are not!
2. Meeting at a bar is fine.... Meeting at a GAY bar when you've been there since 3 in the afternoon is not fine.
3. Most women don't kiss on a first date.
4. When meeting a girl for dinner and/or drinks... PUT ON A CLEAN SHIRT. I do not want to see the mustard and ketchup stain from your lunch okay?
5. Talking about your family, that's okay.... going into family drama from 4 Christmas's ago.... not cool dude.
6. Asking the girl if she knows a lot about "gay lingo" is a HUGE RED flag.
7. I like stubble on a guy, it makes him look rugged, like Hugh Jackman or Charlie Hunnam (I'd be Jax Teller's Old Lady any day) but for goodness sakes keep that sh*t clean.
8. If you tell a girl I smoke a few times a year or you say I'm a social smoke, DO NOT smoke like chimney upon first meeting, you only get one time to make a first impression.
9. Dudes we women like to look good, not only to impress you but, yes to impress other women... yes, it sounds odd but it's true, upon first meeting, if you like her hair tell her, if you like what she's wearing tell her how pretty she looks. We LOVE compliments!
10. This one is for all my ladies out there... age is only important in 3 instances.... A. High school. B. Wine. and C. Good Cheese.
So, some of them might be funny and some of them you might find yourself nodding along saying "I KNOW!!!" but for the most part I hope you find them a little helpful when trying to find a date this New Year's Eve....

Because I'm not big on posting....
And really, who really reads this? I mean besides SP (which by the way, where the heck have you been lady?!?).
So, because my life is kind of hectic right now I have had very little time to post, yet alone to think or have a moment to myself. What with having my dad in the hospital and his not-so-near-death experience, moving out of my parents house (about damn time) and taking online classes to sort of pursue my dreams as Music Producer, my life is almost the same... And as much as I loved spending this weekend with my entire family, I am super glad to be home and in more familiar settings....
I'm trying to I guess weed out the drama in my family, which is why I am no longer inviting my foster sister to anymore family functions, she and her husband have an interesting relationship, they live in different cities and he pretty much has her on a very short leash, in fact its more like a choke chain... she called him maybe every 2 or 3 hours... So, yeah needless to say the family function invites are going to not be sent out to her anymore...
My best friend will be here June 19th from Dubai for 5 weeks, which makes me super excited! I haven't seen her in almost a year, and my oldest cousin is going to Africa for 2 years to join the Peace Corp. Which I guess looks good on paper...
What else? I guess that's it. So now I am off to fold my clean laundry, eat some dinner and find something decent to watch on TV...

Things That Make me Happy!
So, it's been awhile. And... besides the only person who reads this aside from myself when I'm editing and using spell check, is the lovely SP... SO!
I'm calling this post "Things That Make me Happy!" because lets face it not a lot makes me happy, but these days I've been pretty content with my life. Despite the fact that I'm [still] single I'm honestly fine with it, I don't really mind being alone. But anyway! On with my list.
1. Target selling Brach's Autumn Mix & Candy Corn. Bring on the "winter weight gain"!
2. Good.Hair.Days. Which let's be honest ladies those days are few and very far between. Today, was a good hair day.
3. My lovely boss buying us Starbucks.
4. Seeing my direct deposit hit a day early. [Yes! I can make my car payment!]
5. Seeing Robert Pattinson at LAX while I was on vacation! Hey! You may laugh at me, but that kid is right up there with Orlando Bloom. [FYI: Robert Pattinson played Edward Cullen in 'Twilight']
6. Red velvet cupcakes.
7. Getting the highlights in my hair touched up on Saturday. Yes, I realize that it's almost October, but beach hair works for me!
8. Shopping. No wait shopping for make-up!
9. The September Issue of Vogue.
10. Did I mention Robert Pattinson?
11. Laughing so hard it became painful. Pretty sure I burned off that chicken sandwich I had for lunch.
12. Seeing one of my closet friends in Rocky Horror in 3 weeks.
13. Spending Halloween weekend in Austin with Kristen.
14. Cooler weather.
15. Finally having weekends off!

I think I get it now?
I'm 26-holy hell when did that happen-years old... I spent my birthday planted in front of my TV and watched Jon & Kate Plus 8... sounds fabulous, yeah? Hardly...
I've recently been reading "He's just NOT That Into You." and there is a chapter called "he's just not that into you if he disappeared on you." now, this chapter hit a little too close to home for me because THAT has happened to me... No.Joke. I've tried to let go of all the feelings I had for him, but when I read that chapter it made me angry, because everything that was said or explained tugged at my heart. I spent a year and some odd months making EVERY excuse in the book for why he just fell off the face of the earth... He's busy, He's broke every bone in his body while surfing waves on Australia's Gold Coast, He lost my cell phone #, etc. Even back then I knew he'd never come back into my life, I knew he'd never call a month (or 2) later and say "I'm really sorry for treating you like crap....I was [insert lame excuse here]" 6 years later, I still know all of these things.
But, now after reading that particular chapter, and thinking about it... it makes me sick, I wasted 4 years on someone who did not even care enough about me to make it a clean break. I still remember the last part of the final e-mail he sent me... "Maybe we should work on getting back on track before we work on where this is going." Part of me wants to track him down [because I could easily do that], punch him so hard his future kids are born with black eyes and ask him "How much time do you need to get back on track? I mean really?!?" I guess I wasn't worth it in the end...
I can't think about how the way it ended without crying... So, I am going to go have myself a good cry and go to sleep...

Udates-ish
So, the lovely SP, recently sent me a message telling me I needed to update this blog. So, this is my attempt at updating and keeping her in the loop with my oh so exciting life!
Unlike most of my peers I did not go out on New Year's Eve, I sat at home with take out from Chili's, watched TV and was asleep by 10:45... I did not feel well that night... what can ya do? I've not only suffered once but twice with some sort of nasal infection/head cold of some sorts... and I may add I am still congested and coughing, I sound like an 80 year old smoker, sexy, I know...
My search for love has pretty much been put on pause (infinitely), not that I've found love I've just been thinking that maybe, just maybe I need to work on myself a little bit before I go looking for someone... or maybe I'm just going out on a limb. And, if the fates have it in for that I will be single for the rest of my life, it's not such a bad thing. I'd certainly be a lot wealthier, right? Plus, it's okay be 25 and single... at least that's what everyone tells me.
